What is Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP)?

Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP), also known as abortion, is the process of ending a pregnancy through medical intervention. It can be done using medications or surgical procedures depending on how far along the pregnancy is, the health condition of the mother, and the preference of the individual. Medical abortion typically refers to the use of prescribed medications to terminate a pregnancy, often in the early stages (up to 9 weeks), though surgical options may be considered for later-term pregnancies or when there are complications.

Our Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Services Include:

  • Initial Consultation and Counseling: Pregnancy Confirmation: Accurate diagnosis using urine or blood tests and ultrasound scans.
  • Mifepristone and Misoprostol: The combination of these medications is used to induce a medical abortion. Mifepristone is taken first to block progesterone, the hormone necessary for the pregnancy to continue, followed by Misoprostol (taken 24-48 hours later) to expel the pregnancy from the uterus.
  • Vacuum Aspiration (Suction Curettage): A procedure used to remove pregnancy tissue from the uterus using suction, commonly done in the early stages (up to 12 weeks).

Benefits of Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP):

  • Treatment options help address the underlying causes, improving the chances of conception.
  • Confidential and Respectful: The process is conducted with full confidentiality, and individuals are treated with respect throughout the decision-making and treatment process.
  • Less Recovery Time: Medical abortions often require a shorter recovery period, and in many cases, can be done at home under medical supervision.
  • Mental Health Support: Emotional and psychological counseling to support individuals during and after the procedure.
